Mistletoe

Welcome back to Mistletoe class!

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back! I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break and have eaten plenty of chocolate! I can;t believe that we are into our final term of the year already. It is all going so quickly!

As before, Mrs Brown will be covering my class on a Monday as it is my SENDCo day and my PPA is still on a  Thursday afternoon.

Curriculum

This half term we will be continuing the core unit, ‘Operation Pied Piper. We have had trouble finding a suitable trip for the children but will continue to try and find something for this topic.

An outline of what we will be covering in each subject area is displayed in the table below:

Learning means the World

‘Operation Pied Piper’ is a thematic unit based on the evacuation of children (code named ‘Operation Pied Piper’ during World War Two) and the Home Front during World War Two. There is a key focus on history. Pupils will learn about the causes of World War Two and the countries involved. They will then find out about the evacuation of children to the countryside during the war, the roles the public played to support the war effort in Britain and government initiatives of rationing and supplying air raid shelters.

PE, Science Forest Schools, RSHE and RE

These lessons will be taught on a rota system so that each year group is taught their own year group curriculum. The rota is as follows and this week is week 3.

The class will be back together on Wednesdays as swimming has finished so will all need to be in PE kit.

This rota will continue for the whole Spring term. Miss Caves will teach science, I will teach RE and Mrs Brown will be teaching RSHE and PE, assisted by Mrs Keeley.

Children should bring forest school kit to school. Please don’t wear it otherwise you will have no clean clothes to change into if you get a bit muddy!

Reading Challenge

Please continue to read with your children at home and add their books to the padlet. It’s so lovely to see the huge variety of books that they have been choosing!

What your child needs in school

The children must always have a named water bottle with them in school which will be placed in a box in the classroom each morning. No other items need to be brought into school; this includes fidget toys, pencil cases, toys, and stationery. If your child would benefit from a fidget tool, the school will supply it.

Uniform

Please consult the school website or recent letter to see what is expected to be worn to school in terms of uniform and PE kit. Smart trainers may be worn if they are completely black. Please make sure that your child always has a coat in school as we don’t stay in just because it’s raining (well unless it’s a hurricane!)

Bags and Wellies

The children may bring in one bag, which must be a suitable size for hanging on their pegs, and a separate, named bag for their wellies (both of which must be named) to be stored on the welly rack.

If you have any questions at all about these or any other matters, please email me on vmcclure@pulham.norfolk.sch.uk. If you would prefer to speak in person, then please arrange a meeting with me via the school office. If you have a problem that your child couldn’t resolve themselves, please do encourage them to come and speak to me directly; it is so much easier to solve any problems when they happen!

Kind regards

Mrs McClure and Mrs Keeley
